A new Doctor Who internet talk show has launched as a podcast. The
Gallifreyan Embassy http://www.gallifreyembassy.org/portal/index.php
website now has a weekly radio show (Doctor Who: Podshock) offered
through the internet. Episode 1 went online August 10. Episode 2
will presumably go up shortly. The show's format features Doctor Who
fans on 2 continents (Ken Deep, Louis Trapani US, James Naughton UK)
discussing the show from the US and UK perspective. I can't speak
for the quality of the podcast audio as I was unable to get it to
work - the MP3 version of the audio was soft but held together. They
discuss the current news and gossip about the series and speculate
on its present and future. It'll be interesting to see how the show
progresses in future weeks. It sounds promising.
Viewer advisory - the CBC http://www.cbc.ca/television in Canada is
being affected by a strike. As of this writing the Doctor Who
repeats will air in their regular 7PM slot with no additional
airings or pre-emptions. But most of the CBC website, including the
Doctor Who sections, are closed till the strike is resolved. If like
me you haven't seen all of The Planet Of The Doctor yet, you're
going to have to wait a while.
BBC Kids http://www.bbckids.ca in Canada is redoing their schedule effective Monday 29 August, and on weeknights most Doctor Who fans benefit. 2 airings a night instead of 1. Midnight and 5AM Eastern Time. Aka 11PM and 4AM Central Time. Aka 10PM and 3AM Mountain Time. Aka 9PM and 2AM Pacific Time. Aka 1AM and 6AM Atlantic Time. Aka 1:30AM and 6:30AM Newfoundland. If you preferred the old 2AM Eastern / 11PM Pacific Time - weekend complete story broadcasts will remain at those times.
BBC7 http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbc7 gives the radio premiere of episode 3
of Paul McGann audio "Storm Warning" this weekend, the 3rd of 16
weeks of new to radio Doctor Who courtesy of a deal with Big Finish
http://www.doctorwho.co.uk .
ABC Australia http://www.abc.net.au/tv completed its run of series 1 of Doctor Who last Saturday. It is off the air now (though older episodes continue airing 4 days a week around 6PM). When ABC or another broadcaster buys the Christmas Invasion and Series 2, the news should spread fast.
The BBC Press Office http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice and C21 Media
http://www.c21media.net often announce when a Doctor Who
international sale occurs. Worth keeping an eye on, just in case.
